FCRE Government Relations Team

The Government Relations Team (GRT) is a group of retired educators who are interested in speaking on behalf of all of Virginia's retired education employees. The GRT consists of members of FCRE and FEA-R working together to support and speak for the issues that we determine to be most critical in the upcoming 2012 General Assembly Session.

In October, the GRT will meet to begin looking at the Position Statement we put together for last year's General Assembly. From there, we will move on to consider the economic condition of the state and of the country in general. We will make a very strong statement for not cutting education and the Virginia Retirement System.

Meeting dates (10:00 a.m. at the FEA Office):

Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Thursday, November 10, 2011
Thursday, December 15, 2011
Thursday, January 12, 2012

Lobby Day in Richmond: Thursday, January 26, 2012

FCRE's Legato School Museum
(adjacent to the Old Fairfax Courthouse on Route 123, Fairfax Virginia)

The Legato School Museum is the last of Fairfax County's one-room schoolhouses; it served students in all eight grades from 1870 until 1930 and was originally located at the intersection of Pender and Legato Roads in western Fairfax County. Now located in central Fairfax City on Rt 123, the Legato School Museum is open to the public on certain holidays and by appointment. The museum has no admission charge.

Phone (703) 425-2424 for additional information about the Legato School Museum.
